Rhayn Jooste is a music educator, researcher, writer and multi-instrumentalist. He began classical guitar at 22, later than the conventional wisdom says is possible, and got there by building a method rather than waiting for talent. That method has since become the work: two decades of teaching, from one-to-one tuition to whole-class programmes, and four years examining internationally for the Rockschool (RSL Awards) board, where the job was holding a single standard steady across cohorts in different countries sitting the same syllabus.
He was Area Leader and Classical Guitar Specialist for the Junior Conservatoire at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, designed the guitar curriculum for the Vale of Glamorgan's Adult Education service, and now works as a Music Practitioner for Bristol Beacon, leading Whole Class Ensemble Teaching in ukulele and djembe.
He holds an MA in Music, Culture and Politics from Cardiff University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from RWCMD and a BA (Hons) in Music from Bath Spa University, alongside professional teaching, digital marketing and AI certifications, the most recent being AI Fluency for Educators, Claude 101 and Claude Code 101.
Since 2014 he has built and run Classical Guitar Rocks single-handed, a self-produced platform of over 530 lessons anchored by his Micro Study System: advanced repertoire broken into precisely sequenced studies, each isolating one technical problem and each with an outcome you can test. He is the author of two instructional books, a former contributor to Classical Guitar Magazine, and continues to publish independent academic research on Caribbean music.
